ClinGen’s Pharmacogenomics Interpretation Committee Publishes Paper in Clinical Chemistry
We are pleased to announce that ClinGen’s Pharmacogenomics Interpretation Committee (PGxIC, previously known as the Pharmacogenomics Working Group (PGxWG)) has published its first paper in the journal Clinical Chemistry! The group recently updated its name to better reflect the scope and focus of its activities in advancing pharmacogenomic interpretation and integration into genomic medicine.
This paper, titled “Integrating Pharmacogenomics into the Broader Construct of Genomic Medicine: Efforts by the ClinGen Pharmacogenomics Working Group (PGxWG)”, describes the background and major activities of the PGxIC, and how this initiative aims to facilitate the integration of pharmacogenomics into the larger context of genomic medicine.
Established in 2022 by the NIH-funded Clinical Genome Resource (ClinGen), PGxIC develops frameworks and terminologies to define gene-drug response clinical validity, actionability and variant classification. These frameworks are designed to align with ClinGen’s existing gene-disease frameworks while leveraging trusted PGx knowledge resources such as PharmGKB and CPIC.
This publication would not have been possible without the hard work and support of all PGxIC members. We are incredibly grateful for their contribution, expertise and dedication to this initiative!
We are excited to share the efforts with the broader scientific and clinical communities and are hopeful that this work will contribute to advancing knowledge and practice in pharmacogenomics.
